Big changes are on the horizon for the Pixels ecosystem.
Staking has arrived, and with it comes new ways for players to earn rewards while having a real voice in shaping the future of Pixels.
Staking is a major step toward making Pixels more player-driven, decentralized, and rewarding to those who believe in the long-term future of what we’re building.
What Staking Unlocks:
Through staking, you’ll be able to:

💎 Strengthen the community by helping build a thriving, sustainable economy for those who hold $PIXEL.
Staking Rollout Phases:
Staking will roll out in several phases to build a fully decentralized, data-driven publishing ecosystem:
Phase 1 (Beta): At first, only hand-picked games will be available for staking. Each game will receive a fixed monthly reward allocation, with the majority reserved for Core Pixels. Each game will also decide how much of its rewards go back to stakers.
Phase 2: Rewards won't be fixed per-game anymore. Instead, the more $PIXEL players stake to a game, the bigger that game’s reward pool becomes.
Phase 3: The curation aspect of the $PIXEL ecosystem is removed. Any game that hits a minimum activity threshold will be eligible to join the $PIXEL ecosystem.
Phase 4: As the ecosystem achieves a positive Return On Reward Spend (RORS), Pixels will start supporting more tokens (like USDC) for user acquisition services. $PIXEL will still be required to earn staking rewards.
How to Stake:
In-Game Staking
If a player has $PIXEL in-game, we will simulate staking on their behalf!
💎 In-Game Staking will be determined at the time rewards are distributed
💎 Minimum balance required: 100 $PIXEL
💎 Will be rewarded on a regular cadence (scheduled to change)
To earn staking rewards, you must remain active in-game. Inactive accounts, even if they meet the balance requirement, will not be eligible for rewards.
The first distribution of in-game rewards will come within the next month!
NFT Land Ownership boost:
Players who hold Farm Land NFTs gain additional staking power calculated by:
STAKING_POWER = STAKED + [NUM_LANDS × min(STAKED × 10%, 100000)]
STAKING_POWER: Total staking amount including land-based bonuses.
STAKED: Base amount of $PIXEL tokens staked.
NUM_LANDS: Number of Farm Land NFTs owned.
Essentially, each Farm Land NFT will give a 10% staking power boost to $PIXEL in-game. However, the max amount of staking power per Farm Land caps out at 100,000 $PIXEL (1,000,000 $PIXEL would be needed to hit that cap).
On-Chain Staking (via Dashboard)

💎 No in-game activity required
💎 Rewards are automatically distributed to the dashboard
The first distribution of on-chain rewards will come sometime next week!
1️⃣ Go to staking.pixels.xyz and sign in with your preferred wallet. We support RainbowKit which lets you use WalletConnect and other wallets!
2️⃣ Transfer $PIXEL to your wallet
3️⃣ Choose which games you want to stake your $PIXEL to—Forgotten Runiverse, Pixels, Dungeons, or all three!
4️⃣ Enter the amount you want to stake
5️⃣ You can click “My Stakes” to see all your staked games with the amount you’ve staked.
TL;DR:
Start with curated games. Then let the community decide where rewards go. Later, open it up to more games. Finally, bring in more tokens while keeping $PIXEL at the center.

A Note on APR Calculations:
‘APR’ calculations for staking will not be accurate for a few days & ‘APR’ will be very variable/volatile for the first few weeks. APR is calculated individually per game - it depends both on how many rewards each game decides to give & how many people are staking to each game!
Strengthening the Ecosystem: Farmer Fees + Reward Token
We’re making a few important upgrades to support staking and set Pixels up for long-term success.
Farmer Fees
When a user wants to withdraw $PIXEL outside of the ecosystem, a fee will apply.
The player’s reputation score will determine what the fee will be. This means the stronger your reputation, the lower your fees.
Currently, this is how the Farmer Fee is determined. These values may change as things progress.
And good news: these fees go straight back to stakers, rewarding those who support the Pixels economy.
Your reputation matters more than ever, and it’s never too late to improve it. Our Reputation system uses a smart algorithm to calculate your score, so make sure to stay active in quests, events, and everything happening in Pixels.
Coming Soon: $vPIXEL
After staking launches, we’ll soon introduce $vPIXEL, a new spend-only reward token.
$vPIXEL lets you spend without worrying about Farmer Fees, making it easier to keep your adventures (and your earnings) in motion. For example, if you want to withdraw to spend in Pixel Dungeons, you’ll be able to use $vPIXEL and bypass the Farmer Fee.

Additional Updates from Today’s Release:
The Quicksilver Kickback Beta Program has wrapped up. Ultimately, very few rewards were given out through this program in the first place - this change will allow us to give out more free Quicksilver to more players and adjust its pricing to better support future rewards.
More players, more surplus for Land Owners, and more flexibility for the game.
