In this week’s AMA, Heidi and Luke introduced us to Chapter 3! Check out the walkthrough and learn all about it below:
It’s an exciting week for us because we previewed Chapter 3: Bountyfall. We also had Merchant Ships launch last week, and we released early access to the Chubkins app (but we won’t be pushing that right now because we’re still working out some bugs.)
We’re making progress on all the stuff we’ve been working on for a while. Next two months is when we start to see the fundamentals of Pixels shift. Our goal for end of the year is to get Pixels into a spot where the game is sustainable with RORS (Return On Reward Spend) over 1. We had a big spike of revenue with the Merchant Ships update and we have Chapter 3 coming out because we wanted new types of gameplay.
When we think of high-level goals and what we want to accomplish with Core Pixels, we want to see if you like this gameplay more. We added elements of competition to it. We’re also trying to tweak the game in a way that is sustainable to grow the user base. If you go to staking.pixels.xyz, you can see the revenue data and you can see there’s a big spike in revenue with Merchant Ships. You can also see where we’ve been at with RORS. We’ve been hovering around .7 and .8 for the last couple of months but we went to 2.75 with the update and now we’re hovering around .95, which means we’re very close to being sustainable.
The reason why we want the game sustainable: if it’s RORS+1, more tokens are getting burned inside the ecosystem every time we acquire a new user. If our RORS is under 1, every time we add a new user, it’s more tokens getting emitted, sold and going out into the ecosystem. If we care about our token, we want to turn it around. We want to scale revenue, build out sustainable games, and these Chapter 3 tweaks are oriented around that. It is scheduled to release very soon (weeks, if that). We’ve even had players start playtesting and giving feedback now.
We released the first version of our pets app (Chubkins) on the Google Play Store. If you want to download, you can, but we’re not pushing it yet. It’s not supposed to be a huge release; it’s about getting the right data to see what needs to be improved to make sure the game gets good. We’re also doing paid user acquisition to acquire more web2 gamers by running ads to see what messaging performs best and what they like. We’re trying to build out hybrid, go-to-market strategies with web2 principles and web3 principles together.
We also have a new reward platform that will be released in the next 30 days. The offer system inside of Core Pixels will be able to work in any game and it will be the main source of earnings inside of Chubkins. We’re going to slowly integrate that inside of Chubkins, and you’ll be able to see it in other games inside and outside of the ecosystem. We’re building out a way to give out rewards in a smart way, and we want it to be standalone so that you can interact with it and it will show potential rewards you can get in any game in our ecosystem.
We also want to start highlighting creator content in AMAs more often now:
Shoutout to ChickenPet1 for this fun tweet that ended up blowing up! https://x.com/ChickenPet1/status/1979877512319803877

Chapter 3 is incredibly community-focused and the goal is to introduce elements of light competition inside the game. Inside the game, there’s just one goal: optimize your taskboard. Chapter 3 will introduce lighter and more competitive gameplay and that’s an interesting loop we want to explore. If it does well, then we will see about making it even more in-depth and robust. The earnings inside of Chapter 3 are kind of related to how much people are participating in it, so it’s easier for us to tweak in a way that’s more sustainable for the gameplay and token. We’ll release it relatively early and we’ll keep building upon it, doing live ops, and making this loop better and better. If it goes well, then we’ll release Chapter 4 which goes even more in-depth.
How to play Chapter 3 - Bountyfall:
There’s going to be an intro quest when you walk into Hearth Hall.
Select Harvest Union (you can change Unions every 48 hours by purchasing a Harvest Union Changer, but the goal isn’t to change them all the time)
The three Unions are:
Reapers (Hollow Yieldstones)
Seedwrights (Verdant Yieldstones)
Wildgroves (Flint Yieldstones)
Go to the taskboard on one of your lands (you can get Yieldstones right from the taskboard)
If you get Yieldstones from other Unions, you can give it to them and make their health go down
Offerings come in 2 forms:
Power (amplify power for your Hearth)
Defense (protects your Hearth against sabotage)
More info will be released in our official Chapter 3 announcement coming soon!
Questions from the AMA
How long does a session last?
Until someone wins. There are lots of $PIXEL prizes to win.
What’s the benefit of winning the union? This is done weekly?
There are prizes and prize pools for winning and losing factions. There will likely be some consolation prizes for losing Unions, but most of the prize pool will go to winning Unions.
Are those unions based off base resources?
They’re tasks that you can regularly complete on the TB for Yieldstones.
What would happen if almost all the current players had an agreement to join the same faction? Would it greatly reduce earnings?
Each player would earn less. That’s why you can change your Union. It all balances out eventually. It might take a little time but it’s also part of the gameplay too.
No win, no rewards? Whatsoever the plan on balancing the players?
The top 1 and 2 will get $PIXEL rewards, and the 3rd will get some kind of consolation.
I prefer single-player games or multiplayer, going with really small groups against others. Not sure how I fit in here because I don’t want to teamplay with 1/3 of all players.
You can play in so many different ways or not at all. You can still play like you were playing before. Also, if you are normally just doing the taskboard, you’re already playing Chapter 3 by receiving Yieldstones.
How many reactors can we generate?
1 for small land and 2 for large land. And yes, it generates surplus.
Will the level matter?
Levels do matter because Yieldstones are tiered, so you’ll get access to higher-tiered tasks the higher level you are.
Is it possible to see for any players in what union is he/she? Better be private
Yes, but give us some feedback on if it’s something we should hide.
When did you start naming events as chapters?
Chapter 3 is a major feature release and adds to the game in a significant, fun, and continuous way. Chapters will be big feature releases and it’s not an event because it will stay in the game forever. We will carefully monitor it to keep it balanced. The approach moving forward is smaller updates and then tweaking to make it better week by week.
Are $PIXELs removed from the taskboard with this event?
No, because we expect people to do the taskboard like normal if they’re trying to get $PIXEL in the taskboard, and as they’re getting $PIXEL, they’ll also get Yieldstones. If you get them you might as well use them to get even more earnings.
It looks only good for whales
Anyone playing the taskboard can play, and you don’t need to be a whale to level up.
0.7 - 08 (RORS) means your company loses 20-30% every month lol XD
That’s true, that’s why sustainability is important. That’s why we talk about this every week, why we make such a big push on this RORS metric, and why we release this transparently every day. The game needs to be fun and you guys need to be enjoying it and liking the new mechanics so that’s why we hope Chapter 3 brings more gameplay that will make the game more fun.
Can we list yieldstones on the marketplace?
Yieldstones are not tradable.
Is there a way to steal yieldstones from other players?
No, but these are the exact features we want suggestions on. This is very light risk to earn, but we want your suggestions on everything we can do to make it more interesting and fun.
1 whale vs 100 players still gonna lose
You can’t buy Yieldstones. If normal players don’t feel they have a chance, we’ll need feedback from you. We want the game to feel more fun to the average player.
What happens if a land isn’t assigned?
You can’t use the Yieldstone Generator.
Can you assign a land to a union?
Not right now but is in talks. If that’s something you guys want then let us know.
I don’t think whales will be at an advantage, grinders will be because they are organized.
We think the people who play the taskboard normally will do the best because you can’t buy your way in.
