Staking went live. We’re very excited about staking and what that means for the ecosystem. Pixels has done a few things that have become mainstream in Web3 and Web3 gaming. Airdrop, Referral Systems, VIP Systems. This is one of those things that people are going to emulate. There’s still some misunderstandings around the APR. We’re gonna dive into that again and explain some things around it. Since it’s been a week and there’s some real data now, it should all make sense. Other stuff that we will go over are future plans and everything you guys have questions on as well.
Couple key points:
Now $PIXEL is used across multiple games, so it’s not reliant on just Pixels.
We’re changing up our long-term strategy on how we build. We’ve identified key issues for our core game. We’ve done a lot of things right, but we’ve also done a lot of things wrong. Web3 gaming still has a long way to go but we’re making crazy progress towards making web3 games that work. The space is finally getting there. When we finally figure things out in Web3 gaming, no game will go back.
Transparently, we’re thinking how do we make Web2 games more Web3. We’ll go over all of this and some questions.
Q: Wen will be the in-game staking be live? We are missing rewards?
They’re accruing, you just haven’t gotten them yet. You’ll get a bigger first distribution, but it should be before the end of the week. You’re not missing any rewards.
Runiverse ties into staking too. People are starting to get it. What we’re doing at Pixels now is make sure the core Pixels is competitive. We’re core contributors to the Pixel Ecosystem. We’re also developing a game. The core Pixels. As our duty to the Pixel ecosystem as core contributors, we have to remain a little agnostic and make sure that what we do is good for the whole ecosystem. Forgotten Runiverse will be one of the first games that joins and competes in the ecosystem and they get to give 5M $PIXEL to their users every month. It’s up to them to figure out how to give that to their users. They’ll be using $PIXEL for monetization. You’ll have to spend some $PIXEL to earn $PIXEL in their game. Some of the $PIXEL spent will be going back to their stakers.
Every single gaming company is on a quest to figure out how to make a sustainable game and the more we work together, the faster we get towards that goal. If you’ve never played FR, it’s very different from Pixels. When I first saw them, we thought they were gonna eat our lunch. But FR is focused more on lore, quests, dungeons, combat. Different from some of the things Pixels focused on.
There’s a lot going on.. there’s the quest in Pixels to run around town and collect frogs. Yesterday, we launched another thing with them. If you need rep, you can play Forgotten Runiverse and earn Reputation in Pixels. Also we officially announced a really new fun initiative. We’re partnering with AIVeronica. There’s 6 characters in the game that Veronica is bringing to TV. There’s 3 bachelors and 3 bachelorettes. The goal is to get them to like you, and when they do, you win. There will be a leaderboard, and a whitelist. The users that get the score the quickest rank higher. It will be a 2-week long event. You get a reward from just getting the NPC to like you, but there’s also $PIXEL rewards. Top 10 players will get 1% each of the total $PIXEL used in the event. Top 100, and Top 500 will also get something.
So in the back end, we built a way to create AI Agents inside the game. We’ve built a backend tech to do that. One potential feature we talked about was if we wanted to have a way to automate some of the actions inside the game, maybe we can sell you guys an AI Agent. When we first started selling in-game coins to users directly, that increased some of the in-game spend. Now that we have staking, you guys should care more about the in-game spend. We kind of did this to make sure interests are aligned. Previously when you guys were spending, it would go to the treasury. We’re still waiting for the DAO, and that’ll be taken care of. But now, when you spend in the game, there’s much better alignment. One of the things we can even do is make it so bots do some of the menial tasks. We’re not promising this, but it’s a cool experiment to try.
Q: AIVeronica is just AI inside the Pixels game? Will it provide NFTs too to have in-game?
Yeah it’s an AI, and there will be rewards (not NFTs) - just rewards.
Q: AI Agents got more personality than in game NPC lol, sorry
Well yeah. There’s other initiatives internally where we’re working on more lore and quests in-game.
Head over to twitter, we have quote tweeted their announcement, you can see the link to their website, and it’s 50% off for the key
Q: Can we have the AI on our speck?
Not yet but if you guys like this feature, we can look into getting these in-game
So there’s lots more items in the Seaside Stash store for summer, cooking items are now tradable!! We can all party together about this. The energy component has been removed, but we can all agree I think that this is great.
Also minor leak, the team has been working on a new thing - we want to beta test it. We’re going to beta test a new feature coming to the game launching in a few hours. We’re only going to post about it on discord. So if you’re on discord, you’ll see what it is. It’s a new initiative taken on from the team. There will be a small reward allocated to the beta test, not as much as the normal amount.
Q: Will they ever do something good with merchant ships? They could add wines, industries, and crates with random resources, but it’s been a month and nothing useful.
The team continues to work on merchant ships, and there will be updates coming to it soon.
We’re making bigger bets on making the core game loop complete. For the longest time, TB was the only thing being worked on. MS as well now, but we’ve now split the team into Live Game (TB, Merchant Ships, this new initiative they’re working on etc) and then the other part of the team was split into the Core Game. We’re adding in more compelling end-game loops. We’ve reserved half of the team’s focus to just this. We’re trying to make it as fun as it needs to be to compete with other games. A lot of we’re doing is completing the crafting loop. There’s a few directions we’re thinking about is.. it might take us a couple shots on goal to get the right ch3 features. We’re taking inspiration from Web2, but building a Web2 game and just slapping on Web3 is not gonna work either.
We’re going to settle on a middle ground. Some elements of risk to earn, and some best practices from Web2 when it comes to completing game loops. I could dive into this all day but I think it’s best reserved for a separate AMA. We’re still in some direction of contestable lands with T5. The lands wont be permanent and will just be competed for. That’s high level.
There’s 56M $PIXEL staked inside the ecosystem right now. It was a pretty good initial launch. Luke dives into an extremely in-depth analysis of stakes at this point. Might be better to watch.
Q: Distribution Frequency says 1 Day for Pixels Staking.. But I didn’t receive any for the last 5-6 days. Is it normal?
Guys if you are staking, the rewards dont get airdropped automatically. You have to go and claim them. You can either claim or restake. For in-game staking, we staked the in-game rewards on behalf of the in-game players. We did it across multiple wallets, but we’ll simulate staking on your behalf, then claim and distribute.
Q: Can you implement a way to move staking pixels from Game to Game instead of unstaking and waiting 72 hours? I want to move my claimed rewards to a different game but efficient and fast if possible?
I agree, we should do that. Each of these games is their own contract, but we can look into it. But part of the game theory is making better bets on which game to stake to and not just follow the APR.
Q: Release beta for test or for all?
Yes it’s open for everyone. We’re only going to announce on discord, it should last a couple days
Q: How do I repair Jihoz’s Net?
You need to buy a new one in the pet store
Q: When can we interact with the new AI Characters?
Tomorrow.
Q: Can we see RORS figure in staking dashboard?
Yeah we need to do that.
Q: How about the 40MM $PIXEL from Community Treasury? How are you going to distribute that?
We’re going to open it up to DAO governance pretty soon, you guys get to decide what to do with that. Also it’s more like 90M
Q: Luke, pixel blockchain and always in your future projects?
Here’s how I feel about pixel chain. We explored it pretty heavily at one point, but we prefer to just be chain agnostic and work everywhere. We wanna work with games all across Web3 and Web2. We want to make this model work for a game not in Web3 and bring some Web3 game components to them. I want them to not even need to tell their users that it’s Web3, but you guys who are Web3 native would know
Q: Wen $vPIXEL and WEN gas fees adjust?
$vPIXEL should be out by EOM.
Q: Can’t you buy the AI Agent keys in-game too?!
Yes, but there’s a discount on the whitelist site.
Q: How to stake in-game?
They’re accruing on behalf of the users, you just might get a biggest first reward. It should be released end of the week.
Q: Wen fees remove?
They’re here to stay
Q: Is the land boost included in the 51m Staked?
The in-game method of calculating rewards is different. We staked all the in-game balance on-chain, then added requirements to have in-game staking. There’s also requirements, like 100 $PIXEL at least, and log in at least once. You don’t have to do anything if you want to in-game stake except meet those requirements. It makes sense to show the in-game staking but…
Q: Wen 7 hour VIP Sauna?
We had 6, we had 8, I’m so annoyed with this question every time, we’re going to propose that it be random and you wont know how much it will be
Q: Kinda feels like y’all are sharing wrong info on purpose at this point…
What did we share wrong information for? You have to be more specific so we can help to clarify?
Q: Do you know that many players are angry, both because of the fee and the state of the task board?
There’s a lot of users that don’t really care about the game or the long-term interest of the ecosystem. The fee is not going away, and partner games might start doing vPIXEL rewards in-game
Q: I said it: Y’all said pixels were auto-staked in-game, but now I gotta connect my wallet on the site to start? That’s NOT what you said before. Just lost 7 days of staking cuz of bad info
We never said that. You don’t have to do anything. We have not lied to you. You’ll get a distribution at the end of the week if you had in-game $PIXEL staked.
We care so much about what we’re building. This is what we’re working towards - a Web3 game that lasts. What we were working on before wasn’t working. If we kept things going the way it was before, the game was going to die. Some people have the mindset of just earning, and taking away as much from the game as possible, and if the game dies, it deserves it. I’m not going to be building for those people. We have to build something that’ll keep going for at least the next 5-7 years. I have to dedicate my life to this and will only build things that I’m convinced will work for the long run. We knew the farmer fees were not something everyone would like, but we’re building for people here for the long run.
DAU is down because we gated a lot of the core features. You can’t interact with the MP if you didn’t have 1500 rep. Losing real users is not a good feeling, but it’s a part of the step and the process. Our intention is to focus on core gameplay. We want to bring in more games that use the $PIXEL token. If you care about what Chapter 3 looks like and care about it being as good as possible, we want your feedback. The strategy with the core game is making something people like also. We’re changing decision making in the short-term. We wont be focusing so much on the short-term for only earn-motivated people. If you don’t care about Chapter 3 and the ecosystem’s long-run, then this might not be a good fit for you.
I love the fees, the TB is much better for me now, less extractors mean more $PIXEL for me.
Q: How long is long term?
However long it takes to make a sustainable Web3 ecosystem. So that’s the idea. We shrunk the audience a bit, and made sure we’re building with the right people. If it takes 2-4 years that’s fine - maybe. Hopefully it wont take that long, but we’ll be here.
