More games will start to join the staking ecosystem. We love Runiverse but we need more games to join and make it competitive - the way it’s supposed to be. Even Core Pixels will need to compete. Expect to hear something within the next week or two on a new game joining the ecosystem. Excited about the new game joining - it’s so different. Not every game that joins will be grinding.
We know the Core game is not in a perfect state right now. There’s a lot of tweaking that still goes on, and we’ll continue to keep tweaking the core game. We’re putting resources into the team to create new types of gameplay. The first prio is obvious immediate things that do need to be fixed. Like the TB, the game balance is probably not where it should be. In the pursuit of building better gameplay, we’re doing trade offs to balance what we should be working on.
With Chapter 3, we want elements of skill-based gameplay. We want to move the endgame away from grind. Grind is really easy to abuse and is not rewarding the right people. Pixels players are crazy with grind sometimes, but if you want to build a really solid end game loop, you cant rely on grind. For it to rely on grind, it becomes bottable. We can build out a risk to earn loop that doesn’t directly involve combat PvP (economic PvP). Don’t want the end-game to feel like you’re just flipping a coin. There will be winners and losers, but it needs to be based on skill.
Q: We need ways to win stuff beyond task board and hard currency. NFTs with temporary booster that might potentiates gameplay
Yeah we’re currently discussing this as a big topic internally at the moment. Like we know our Chase Content isn’t that great right now. A lot of the chase content has been centered around NFT land. So this is an example of some of the short-term stuff we’re looking into and prioritizing.
So we need to give you guys reasons to use your in-game resources, and sinks besides just the task board.
Q: Please keep weather/season simple. Different crops growable, faster grow summer, slower grow winter.
If we do weather systems, it’ll be semi-complicated. The entropy system will be complex, and there will be win and lose systems otherwise it wont be sustainable.
Key concept is there will be winners and losers in Chapter 3. It also needs to feel skill-based, and feel like your chances with winning will be better than just staking, and we want to incorporate guilds a lot more in Chapter 3 than we have now. This might mean changing how the guild system works. So if we do make changes, we’ll give notice, explain our thoughts, etc. I am skeptical of the bonding curve mechanic right now. It might not be the best mechanic in guilds.
Also we have been discussing Season 3 of Spore Sports - we’ve learnt a lot from the two previous seasons and it’ll be a happy medium between the two. It’s only in talks. If we do it again, it wont be a 3-month season. There will be a lot of changes. The issue is it was just way too big of a commitment. We might just do one session a week or something like that. If we did bring it back, how would you want to see it. Would you want the same amount of sessions, or less.
Q: Need some live event soon. Game nowadays a bit boring
Team is working on some new content, There’s a permanent quest coming soon, and some other quests possibly coming. There’s also Leon’s Neon Zone. Coming to Terra Villa soon
Q: How does staking work in-game and out of game?
It’s been in the Whitepaper the whole time. We haven’t changed it. The in-game system might not be perfect but we’ll explain again how it works and we could use some feedback in the long run. Any changes to how staking works should not be done quickly. It might not be perfect and might need changes eventually but people should get at least 30 day notice to make informed decisions.
Q: Why runiverse side of staking not yet given out pixel staking rewards?
We should change their distribution date. We had it at 1-month at first. Might have been smart to keep it there. Their in-game revenue is on 2-week long seasons. There’s not many rewards to give out until they repoen their season. That being said, if you stake on-chain, it counts the number of blocks you’ve staked for. So even if you withdraw your stake, you’ll still get rewards for the blocks where you were staked. Runiverse is about to get significant gameplay enhancements soon which should also improve their reward system.
Also we all get to talk about how to give out rewards the best way (Runiverse, Pixel Dungeons and Pixels), and how to increase $PIXEL spend. They’re going to be using their $PIXEL to bring in new users. Pixels is the last Web3 game that brought in a lot of new Web3 gamers into Web3. Some other games brought a few in but a lot of Web3 games right now are competing over the same gamers. What we really need to do is bring new users into the gaming ecosystem. It gets harder for everyone to scale if we don’t.
Soon what you’ll start to see is three different things on the dashboard - daily revenue, daily reward and RORS per day, week, month, per game. So that helps give more clarity to the decisions when staking. This is part of a tech stack we’re working on at Pixels. We’re working on RORS tracking, etc. We want to help games figure out the best users to give out rewards to. Soon you’ll see a few new things in Pixels. Like an offer wall. You’ll go this page, and get a task like “Go buy anything in Pixels” and you might get some $PIXEL back. Or login 7 days in a row. Then we’ll do cross-game offers. Might see tasks for Pixels, Forgotten Runiverse, Dungeons etc. Not everyone will have the same offer wall available. So rep might be even more important.
Q: Does staking dashboard for total staked pixels in core game include both onchain and ingame? including land boosts?
Right now in Pixels there’s 57M staked. If you have $PIXEL in game, we stake $PIXEL on your behalf and simulate staking. We only count $PIXEL in game if you had over 100 $PIXEL and were active within the last 30 days. There’s 28M $PIXEL in-game right now at all. Eligible and ineligible. There’s around 13-14M $PIXEL eligible for staking. We staked 28M $PIXEL in-game balance to the on-chain staking platform. Of this 57M, there’s just about half that has been staked from the in-game balance. So the entire 28M $PIXEL amount is the amount generated for the entire staking power and distributed by the staking power formula. So the on-chain doesn’t constitute the land boost bonus because that’s not how the on-chain system works. What is true about this land boost equation is it favors people who have more $PIXEL. If you have a bunch of lands, and not a lot of $PIXEL, then it wont be as advantageous. It might be more whale friendly than minnow friendly. Also some people asked why we didnt back the staking power 1:1. If we did that, there would be almost no on-chain rewards because land would take over all of it. Land is a huge boost here if you have actual $PIXEL held with it. It’s interesting because we leaned a bit too much in terms of land. We might change the cap number per land. Maybe lowering it in the future. But this wont come hastily and will have plenty of notice backing it.
Q: Have the frequency of the in-game staking rewards been changed. Used to get every couple of days, this week only once
We have automated distributions coming this week for on-chain. In-game still expect a different cadence. It’ll be unpredictable in-game for the short to medium term until we figure out a better solution.
Q: Wen $vPixel
Coming soon. It got bigger than we thought, cuz there’s legal stuff. All the token stuff is funny.
For the first time in Pixel history, we’ve had significantly more deposits than withdrawals. This is actually what ecosystem health looks like. You want more people to want the token than to want to sell it on an exchange.
You need reasons to hold the token, sell the tokens, lock it up, etc. Net deposits is a good metric of success. Not something I expected at all tbh. We’ll see if this keeps up over the next couple of months. If we can keep repeating this, that’d be great but I expect this to be a higher month because we just released staking. Net deposits is a metric all Web3 games should be aiming for. RORS is another. RORS is how we’re able to generate yield to stakers.
Reputation System: We know it feels icky when things go down, but it’s dynamic. The more active you are, the more quests, the more things, it goes up. When things expire, or time passes, things might go down - but it goes up, it goes down very randomly. Anytime we get someone making this comment, it feels like we’re explaining it too much. It does suck to lose rep and not know why. I think the reputation is directionally correct but there’s things off about it still. I don’t have the right solution - it should be dynamic in some way, but it’s something we should think about a bit more.
Q: Add more coins/exp for high tier taskboard
There will be a TB update ideally this week. Think we’re almost done with it. We want to make sure the lower level/higher level is fixed.
Q: Wen next game collab?
You might see one…even next week maybe. Very different game even.
Q: Then the APR on chain is a bit not accurate compared to in-game balance + boost?
In-game APR might be a bit different from on-chain.
Q: Are there any updates on the community treasury/governance or not just yet?
Legal’s taking a bit longer than we thought it would. Not all of the in-game’s revenue been going to staking rewards. Some of it is still going to the community treasury. We’ll try to get it up as soon as we can but there’s a bit of legal blocking. One of the interesting legal things is there isn’t a valid entity formed yet but we’re working on
Q: Is CANNY still working?
Yes we go through it regularly
Q: Wen shorelime event
Idk maybe you should google when is the summer solstice.

Keep bringing it! Love 👨🌾
