I thought the sentiment of Web3 bottomed out around 2 months ago but it’s getting worse around the industry which is not good. This is kind of in line with what we’ve been saying. We’re making changes to tokenomics. vPixel is close to getting in-game finally.
A lot of teams get very caught up in token utility - when people ask for utility, what are they asking for? People in Web3 would do better if they narrow down their utility of their token in the long-run. So for $PIXEL, it’s probably going to transition to a stake-only token.
Overall, it’s most likely going to be good for the ecosystem if we build in public, and we’ll probably do that but you have to promise to not get upset if something doesn’t get released. Because things change, and that’s what building in public is like. But we should have more information on Chapter 3.
We have UGC Fair event in a few weeks, we have another big in-game change that could come, and there’s tons of QoL updates that I can’t dive into yet. There’s lots of QoL updates planned for the next month and a half. There’s been some team changes and these people are working really hard on doing some cool stuff. Along with them going hard on Chapter 3 - Ch3 is going to take time.
Could we see any major gameplay changes in Chapter 3? Or any new skills?
So new gameplay is necessary for Chapter 3. It’ll be new systems, new ways to interact with the game, and working in some of the current stuff into the new stuff. How do we work guilds in the right way, and some other stuff. That might be the kind of stuff to surface to you guys. Here’s why I want to build more in-public - if we get you guys involved, and it doesn’t go the right way, then it’s you guys’s fault, not just us.
Pets in Chapter 3
Truthfully, the bigger focus is on resources. We still need compelling things for the resources to do. And we need some risk. We need competition, risk, win and for some people to lose also. If we can solve for this, then everything else becomes much more important - makes other items feels good to get, solves some chase content issue too.
Wen Creator Codes?
Tomorrow. They’re going to function in the exact same way on the front end. It is tiered for the creators. Guild codes are also launching, and staying at 50+ supporters to get into the system.
When will we, the creators of UGC, have code?
The best thing you can do is join the Content Creator Academy. You will learn how to develop content around your UGC. You have the coolest content. For example, Calyps has been doing amazingly.
Can we stake vPixels?
Yes, you’ll have 3 $PIXEL balances basically - a vPixel balance, a normal $PIXEL balance and a combined balance that shows you everything. When you go to withdraw, you’ll be able to withdraw $PIXEL or vPixel. You cant turn them into each other, but you can withdraw vPIxel with zero fees. Then you can stake that $PIXEL and earn from the staked $PIXEL.
Why creator codes need to stop usage at a certain point?
It’s in the experimental phase. We’re at the 6-month point, but from now moving forward, we’re hoping to not have any latency between the codes expiring. We’re updating them on a monthly basis to update guilds and content creators, but you won’t see that. We had pretty high confidence we wanted to keep the creator code program, but we knew we’d have to change the fee, or update it. So we did a 3-month test at first and did changes.
What percentage of purchases in game are done with a code?
We have that data, just haven’t looked at it in a minute.
We’re going to be the first company to do App tokens out in the wild. Pretty sure it’s going to be the standard going forward. It’ll solve a lot of the problems when it comes to farming, dumping, etc. The naming convention is not very standard yet, and we might set the standard. Very bullish on hybrid tokens like this. It’s one of those things where you do it, and it just becomes a very obvious thing to do.
But staked vPixel will yield Pixel as a reward, right?!
Yes. Staked vPixel will yield $PIXEL.
This data could be interesting; maybe a dash on creator disc with the data?
I don’t have an exact answer for you on what data will be displayed, but there will be access to a dashboard. You can also request more details.
Can I play with my little brother play in same network or we go to banned?
Yes you can. If you have 100 brothers, you might get banned.
Wen Taksboard skill lvl based!
That change is in - looks like it’s leaning a little top-heavy too. The highest skilled earner are earning way more than they did before and low levels are not earning much at all. There’s a balance you need to strike with this
Wen Risk 2 earn in Pixels
That’s kinda intention in Chapter 3. It’s not gonna be SUPER crazy, and we need elements of competition. There will be people that win and people that lose, so you’ll have to make decisions.
Wen Leon Zone
There’s a high % chance it comes out in July. It’s planned for the first week of August.
Hi Luke, what’s the current DAU for Pixels? HOw much have the recent Pixel updates impacted DAU?
The metric we’re more concerned about right now is RORS over the amount of users who play every day. We think when we start to solve the RORS then we’ll scale the userbase. We think it’s easier to solve RORS with less players. We’re more focused on making the game fun.
Is there an update on the pets app?
We’re doubling down on it - it looks very promising. We’re putting some effort into polishing it at the moment. We leaked a new mock up design. Now the team is building out that design. So that added some time. We have to debate when we do early access. Also how do we do the pet collection aspect. We showed you guys the Capybaras, but we really wanna take this mass market. We want to make it really friendly for Web2 and then add Web3 components at the end.
What’s your opinion on real money gaming and degens
One thing we’re thinking about a lot right now is what is Web3 doing inside of games? In a lot of games, Web3 is not doing that much. In the last 2-3 years, Play to earn is one of those things. Reward to play is getting experimented in Web2. Meme coins, collectibles, etc. But it’s a big question. Potential benefit for some games is a money for real money gaming. You’re seeing a genre of real money games pop up due to Web3 and regulations. Is real money gaming all there is in web3? But we don’t think so. We think risk-to-earn is a good middle ground. It’s not quite real money gaming (casino, gambling, social casinos, cambria).
You said something once of weather and disasters what is the direction on this
We debated on this and went over 10 or so chapter 3 docs that we went through. We have to think about how long it takes to build it. We don’t want it to take a year. It’ll take months, but not 12 months. Truthfully, the ideal situation is to build full Chapter 3 in less than 6 months.
Token Sustainability? ELI5
This is a really good question when it comes to the long-term of the token: There’s a bigger fundamental question, why would people want this token? Why hold it? Secondary parts: Is it being sold more than its being bought? One of the parts of token sustainability is looking at the volume. Have less of the circulating supply than there is on the exchange. Is the actual game burning/locking more tokens than it’s giving out. So you need a reason for people to hold the token. How do you start to get tokens out of the exchanges and locked. vPixel, staking, all of that is a part of this plan. Then you have to focus on game.
Will there be a new season of spore sports?
We were debating it. But if we want to get Chapter 3 out in a timely manner, we have to narrow the focus. Spore sports is one of those things that were on the table, but it’s better to get Chapter 3 out than focus on Spore Sports. It would need work before it gets re-released.
When USDC Payout coming for the gaming pools?
That’s a long-term plan in mind. We have to get positive RORS first. We could also probably give the option to pay in USDC vs $PIXEL and then have the USDC as rewards. The masterplan is to make it so USDC is the only reward and keep $PIXEL staked.
Is it still too early to say that the new Liveops will revive social gaming in Pixels?
It’s more nuanced than that - this doesn’t make sense for what’s to come. LiveOps is going to be heavily community oriented. It’s going to be social, fun and heavily community centered. We also have a few things half-done that I want the team to focus on.
Why do some games in the staking pools have 1 day distribution and some 7 days? And what will the standard be as we progress the beta system?
Truthfully, the longest distribution we want to do in the long-run is 1 week. We’re going to have games switch that to 1 day if they can, but it depends on when they can monetize at the moment, so it’s kinda hard.
There was an event opposite the post office where the winners were given cows.. So when will that event come again? It was a really great event.
That was a beta test for our leaderboard system, to test it at scale. That is a bit of a leak to what you can expect from Leon’s Neon Zone because there will be constant leaderboards there
Any future partner games planned?
The ones in the pipeline are really high quality. Very excited about that. For our model to work, games have to be generating revenue. There are not tht many games generating revenue in Web3 so we’re tapping out. Dungeons team also wants to make another game too. But when it comes to third party games, we only want to bring in games into the ecosystem that are worth your attention. If you think there’s any games we should reach out to, let us know.
Is a weekly in-game leaderboard a good endgame feature?
In LNZ, there will be consistent leaderboards. The cadence? Not sure. It’s also not considered endgame. It’s considered a nice to have feature rather than endgame.
Any news or dates when the new analytics for gaming pools are released?
The Public Analytics is expected Monday or Tuesday
There will be downtime on the staking platform (1 - 4 hours). We’re publicly announcing it now, there will be major updates to the staking contracts to allow support for vPixel, multitoken rewards, and analytics to the dashboard. We’ll definitely announce on the Pixelspost and maybe even an in-game announcement.
